How did you get started with SEO?
My first “real” job out of college was as a link builder. My job was to reach out to other websites and solicit links to the Forex website I was in charge of then. That was when I first heard about SEO and the reasons why I was trying to acquire links.
Since I had a technical background and little experience in web development, this new concept was very intriguing to me. I started doing my own research and slowly began to understand how SEO worked and all the different moving parts that make a website rank better.
What do you love about working for Thrive so far?
I have to say the culture is what I love most about Thrive. We are a global company yet we are a tight-knit group that works very well together. The company has done a really good job at finding talent that matches so well together.
When you’re not at work, how do you spend your time?
With three daughters, if I am not in front of a computer, you can usually find me playing outside, at the park or at Disney. I also coach my daughters’ soccer team.
If you could turn anything into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a gold medal for?
Sadly, I have to say eating! I enjoy food too much. Video games and fantasy football are a close second! I know … I’m a big nerd!
If you would have asked me this 10 years ago, it would have been paintball. My brother and I played tournament paintball. That was a lot of fun!
What would be your karaoke go-to song and what setting would we likely find you singing it in?
Unfortunately, I don’t have a go-to karaoke song. I only sing in the shower! I think the only time I’ve been on stage singing a song was with a group of people and we sang Baby Got Back (this was in college!).
Where did you grow up and what is special about that place?
I was born and raised in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. I moved to the United States when I was 15 years old and haven’t been back since. I still have family and friends there who I have not seen in years. Barquisimeto is nicknamed the “Sunset City” of Venezuela because of its beautiful sunsets.
If you were in a room with three billionaires, what would you ask them and why?
I would ask them the most valuable lesson they have learned throughout their careers and who their role models are.
If you could invite three people to dinner (dead or alive), who would be at the table and why?
Howard Stern, Jeff Bezos and George Lucas. These individuals have revolutionized their respective industries, and trying to understand the world and their vision by hearing their stories would be a great learning experience.
