Name: Alissa McKenzie (A-lee-sa!)
Role at Thrive: Social Media Specialist
Location: Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
Family: I am a twin (fraternal) and we don’t really look much more alike than sisters. I’ve been married to my husband Tom for almost 12 years and we’ve adopted 3 furkids. Tom works at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, the former home of the founder of Goodyear Tire & Rubber, and we were married there in a beautiful Autumn wedding.
Pets: Our three kitties are all adopted and two have special needs. Stewie, Dewey, and Macy. One has three legs, the other has cerebellar hypoplasia, and the third just has a whole lot of tortitude.
When did you start at Thrive? January 8th, 2018!
What are some of the things you love about being a Thriver?
I came from the client side, so working on the agency side has been amazing. I love being able to bring the same passion to my work as if I worked for that company or brand. Also, the people. We are kind of like one big family, and I know everyone says their company is like that, but everything on our website is true. I love that kind of transparency.
What’s your favorite season? Why?
Fall. Ohio has GORGEOUS colors of leaves. It’s also still warm without being grossly hot or humid. There’s tons of apple orchards, cider and donuts, bonfires, and fun things to do in the fall. I love just walking and kicking up the crunchy leaves.
Name something you wish you could be really, ridiculously good at.
Tennis. I would love to be like Serena Williams and tour the world playing tennis. I mean, I’m good at tennis, but I want to be like PRO good.
Let’s talk about donuts. Filled? Frosted? Sprinkled? Crazy flavor or traditional?
Yeast-raised chocolate frosted with sprinkles. Because sprinkles are for winners. I do love most donuts, with exception to filled donuts. One of my favorite food groups.
What show(s) are you bingeing on right now?
Gosh, I don’t really watch much TV! I don’t have the attention span to sit down and watch a bunch of shows in a row. I’m usually playing tennis, learning something, or assembling IKEA furniture for my friends (I’m strangely very good at it.).
You have to go on a game show. Pick one and tell us why you choose it.
Let’s Make a Deal! Whenever I was home sick as a kid, I would watch this show. The prizes were sometimes really good and sometimes completely ridiculous. I remember someone winning a herd of goats. (Hey, goats are cute!) I like the element of surprise, so this would be it!
