Name/Title: Michael Dimaano, Content Writer
Home office: Philippines
Family and Pets: 9 years married with 2 lovely daughters! Dogs, bearded dragons, tortoise
Start date at Thrive: November 5, 2019
How did you get started with Content Writing?
After I got married, I started looking for a writing job with a “healthier” schedule. (I used to work for TV shows as a program researcher and segment writer – and the schedule was crazy!) I got hired as a web content writer in one of the biggest SEO companies in the Philippines. At that time, I don’t even know what SEO stands for! I had to adjust my writing style, as well. I worked there for almost 6 years and really learned a lot. I’ve attended several digital marketing seminars and content writing workshops. Since then, I started accepting freelance writing jobs, mostly for SEO and website projects.
What do you love about working for Thrive so far?
I love the work culture. People here are so helpful and they really care about your progress. They will guide you with every task and help develop your skills. I also learn new things every day!
When you’re not at work, how do you spend your time?
Spending time with my wife and kids. We usually go on a road trip and look for a good surfing spot, especially when the wave forecast is good.
If you could turn anything into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a gold medal for?
Losing weight!
What would be your karaoke go-to song and what setting would we likely find you singing it in?
Champagne Supernova by Oasis!
If you could be any character from any book or movie, who would you be?
Tyler Durden!
Where did you grow up and what is special about that place?
I grew up in Manila, Philippines. The only thing special here is you need to wake up 3 hours ahead so you won’t be late because of the TRAFFIC!
If you were in a room with three billionaires, what would you ask them and why?
What were their biggest challenges in life and how did they overcome them? I think I would learn a lot from this question and can apply them in the future. I also want to ask what’s next for them? I think this would lead me to know more about their character.
If you could invite three people to dinner (dead or alive), who would be at the table and why?
Neil Gaiman, Brandon Boyd and Eddie Vedder. I really admire their philosophical views. I think I would learn a lot from them. If I get lucky, this is a good chance to see Brandon Boy and Eddie Vedder make music together!
