How did you get started with SEO?
I think it was in 2009, got a job at a company that made money of Adsense, so I was part of the team that worked on building hundreds of niche microsites. This included keyword research, content and actually compiling the sites in CMSes.
What do you love about working for Thrive so far?
What is there not to love. Not having to drive into work every day in traffic. Working with an amazing team. Distance has nothing on us as a team. I’ve never worked at any other agency that I’ve experienced such a great bond between colleagues without having to work in the same office.
When you’re not at work, how do you spend your time?
Seeing friends, eating good food, trying new restaurants, doing parkruns, mountain biking and going to the gym. Playing guitar, walking my furkids and camping.
If you could turn anything into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a gold medal for?
Going down a rabbit hole while surfing the web.
What would be your karaoke go-to song and what setting would we likely find you singing it in?
Ooh this is a difficult one, probably something very old school but there’s no one specific song.
If you could be any character from any book or movie, who would you be?
Supergirl
Where did you grow up and what is special about that place?
In a small town in South Africa called Bethlehem (not where Jesus was born). It was simpler times, roaming the street with my friends just being young.
If you were in a room with three billionaires, what would you ask them and why?
Don’t they feel bad for being so rich while there are people dying of hunger and poverty in the world?
If you could invite three people to dinner (dead or alive), who would be at the table and why?
I cannot choose just 3 people, there are too many people whose company I would enjoy at dinner.
