How did you get started with web design and development?
I started out creating websites on Angelfire back when I was 12 years old. It was so easy back then. But I didn’t really start getting into it until 2007, when the Apple iPhone was first introduced. I was introduced to mobile apps and that became my first love in the digital marketing world. After creating mobile apps for a few years with Objective-C, Swift, CSS, JS, I brushed up on my HTML and dove into some PHP. Then WordPress was becoming a full force in the web world, so from there, I started handling more web work for clients. Soon, I created my own digital marketing firm that handled both mobile applications & WordPress websites.
What do you love about working for Thrive so far?
‘The People’! I can’t say enough about the people we hire. While we go through ups and downs, at the end of the day, this is truly an awesome group of people.
When you’re not at work, how do you spend your time?
Circling back to mobile devices, I’ve learned how to repair mobile phones, MacBooks, and gaming consoles. I took it a step further and now fix these devices at the motherboard level, using a microscope and micro-soldering techniques. Also, I am a big believer in multiple revenue streams so I am involved in Forex Trading & Selling Products via Ecommerce.
If you could turn anything into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a gold medal for?
Sarcasm … no need to explain further.
What would be your karaoke go-to song and what setting would we likely find you singing it in?
I do enjoy different genres of music, but you will not find me doing any singing, in any setting. I leave that for my wife to do.
If you could be any character from any book or movie, who would you be?
This is easy… The Hulk! A smart guy that gets to let out his rage by smashing things. What a great way to let off some steam!
Where did you grow up and what is special about that place?
I grew up in town about 20 minutes from Dallas, name Mesquite, TX. When I was younger, it was a big piece of open land & had that small-town feel, yet had attractions for people all over DFW to visit.
If you were in a room with three billionaires, what would you ask them and why?
1. How do you spend your mornings?
a. To me this is the most important part of the day. I enjoy waking up before others.
2. If you could do it all over again, what would you have done differently?
a. I think it would be interesting to see if a billionaire would change anything before reaching “billionaire” status.
3. I lost a million dollars coming in, could you spot me a mil?
a. You never know unless you ask.
If you could invite three people to dinner (dead or alive), who would be at the table and why?
1. Peyton Manning – He is my favorite athlete & I named my son after him. It will be awesome to learn his thought process & preparation for things.
2. Gordon Ramsey – Since we’re eating, we might as well have an awesome cook!
3. Roy Williams – Would love to hear the Tarheel stories of the past. #GoHeels
