How did you get started with social media marketing?
My first job out of college I was working at my Alma Mater doing admissions work (I had no idea what to do and didn’t know social media could be a career!) While I was traveling to promote the school, I started taking on social media duties for the school and eventually worked as the director of digital communications with a focus on social. It was the perfect combination of my English, journalism and art degrees. Then I moved into the agency world and have been growing in my social media skills ever since!
What do you love about working for Thrive so far?
I’ve really been enjoying working with the variety of industries we serve. My previous agency experience was in automotive, so working with eCommerce and service clients has been refreshing and a great source of learning. I also think it’s cool to say “I have a call with Hong Kong this morning.” 🙂
When you’re not at work, how do you spend your time?
I’m usually at the greenhouse or plant shop buying new plants or taking Huck for hikes around the city; Raleigh has a lot of greenways and trails that are perfect for exploring. I also enjoy visiting museums and going to live concerts – I hope they come back soon!
If you could turn anything into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a gold medal for?
If burrito-eating was a sport, my wall would be lined with medals.
What would be your karaoke go-to song and what setting would we likely find you singing it in?
The only time I ever sang karaoke was on Bourbon Street and it was to the one and only Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” I could never top that.
If you could be any character from any book or movie, who would you be?
Sherlock Holmes. He’s always solving mysteries and doing it with style.
Where did you grow up and what is special about that place?
I actually grew up in Raleigh, just a few miles from where I live now. The house I grew up in has changed over the years, but it’s a familiar place that just feels like home when you walk in.
If you were in a room with three billionaires, what would you ask them and why?
“What is your favorite thing about living on Earth?” And then ask them what they’re doing to keep that thing around. (Is my tree-hugger side showing?)
If you could invite three people to dinner (dead or alive), who would be at the table and why?
Michelangelo would bring the art history to the discussion, Princess Diana would be a blast to talk about life and style with, and Michelle Obama because she has got it all going on.
