The work-from-home trend isn’t going away anytime soon. Although we can say the worst of COVID-19 is behind us (thankfully), projections suggest that employees will continue to work remotely or semi-remotely into 2022 and beyond.
And in a place where aspiring artists, screenwriters, novelists and other creatives come in droves, the city of Los Angeles has plenty of exciting remote and coworking spots to offer.
Whether you’re looking to share a working space with fellow remote workers or want your very own quiet, private space, La La Land has something for you.
Here are some of the top venues in LA for remote work:
Groundwork Coffee Co., Downtown
Groundwork Coffee is a staple in downtown Los Angeles and has been roasting some of the best coffee in the city for over 20 years. From opening its doors in 1990, it now boasts 11 locations across the metropolis. Its downtown location in Traction Ave. has a modernist design that features exposed brick walls, ceiling lined with raw timbers and pendant lights that give it a balanced aesthetic. It features seating with solo tables for those who prefer their own personal space and shared long tables for those who come in with a big group.
Address: 811 Traction Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90013
Dinosaur Coffee, Silver Lake
Dinosaur Coffee is a dinosaur-themed coffeehouse along Sunset Boulevard that has become a favorite in Silver Lake. True to its theme, the place features exposed ceilings that resemble the skeletal form of a Stegosaurus with a modern twist and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light. This laptop-friendly coffee shop gives you access to high-speed Wi-Fi and power outlets to keep you connected throughout your stay.
Address: 4334 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90029
Coffee MCO, Pico Union
If you’re looking for a great spot to work from along Olympic Boulevard, you’ll love Coffee MCO. This two-story coffeehouse offers great coffee sourced from small, local specialty roasters around Los Angeles. Whether you’re looking for an outdoor space or prefer to work indoors, there’s always something for you. There’s a tented outdoor seating area built on a portion of the parking lot and tables set up behind the shop, but the upstairs deck offers a much quieter spot to work. The place is equipped with a strong Wi-Fi connection, but there are no outlets available, so make sure you’re fully charged before coming here.
Address: 2580 W Olympic Blvd Unit #2, Los Angeles, CA 90006
Second Home, Hollywood
To say that Second Home comes with abundant outdoor seating is an understatement. You can choose to work from the courtyard, garden, rooftop and terraces with over 6,500 plants and trees spread around this urban forest. Second Home also has childcare facilities available to accommodate children aged three months to six years old, courtesy of Big+Tiny. Memberships start at $400 per month; day passes are available at $25.
Address: 1370 N St. Andrew’s Place, Los Angeles, CA 90028
Cafecito Organico, Silver Lake
Cafecito Organico is a cute coffee shop located near the edge of Silver Lake, with another store located in Atwater. Its Silver Lake location has been dubbed the Hoover Wilderness with its gorgeous outdoor patio that offers plenty of seating. There’s also access to electrical outlets if you need to stay plugged in. There’s free Wi-Fi available for everyone. However, access to seating is limited to 90 minutes because of the pandemic. But when things pick up, expect to get unlimited access to its delicious coffee that’s sourced directly from farmers and roasted in-house.
Address: 534 N Hoover St, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Village Workspaces, West Los Angeles
If you need access to exclusive spaces in the heart of West LA, then Village Workspaces is just the place for you. It has everything you can ask for from a coworking space: a dedicated workstation, unlimited coffee and high-speed internet, with a bonus of professional sound recording studios and complimentary breakfasts. Membership costs $400 a month for 24/7 access to a coworking space and $500 for a semi-private cabin with lockable cabinets.
Address: 1845 W Olympic Blvd #1100, Los Angeles, CA 90064
Cross Campus, Downtown
Cross Campus is not your ordinary coworking space. It has all the amenities of a standard venue, such as unlimited Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace, but comes with extra facilities, including medication spaces and complimentary kombucha. And for a $350/month membership, you gain 24/7 access to your own workstation with the ability to book a desk at its other locations, plus events where you can meet with leaders in different industries.
Address: 800 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90017
